Mining
Troubleshooting
Fixes for the most common setup and mining problems.
Start with ore doctor. It checks the most common problems and says what to fix.
The wizard keeps waiting
- Check the terminal for an error message.
- Make sure the machine can reach this site over HTTPS.
- The setup code expires after 30 minutes and works once. Start again in the wizard if it expired.
No GPU found
- Run
nvidia-smi. If it fails, install or repair the NVIDIA driver. - Only RTX 30, 40 and 50 series cards are supported.
- In Docker, the host needs the NVIDIA Container Toolkit.
The self-test fails
The GPU's results did not match the CPU reference. Update the driver, check for overheating or overclocking, and run ore selftest again. A machine that fails cannot mine.
Public mining has not opened yet
The worker shows this until public mining is open. It waits and starts by itself. See Status.
No season is mining
Workers wait between seasons and start when the next season begins. The schedule is on the Overview page.
Proof not credited
- job_expired: the proof arrived after the five-minute job lifetime. The worker fetches a new job.
- invalid_proof: the verifier rejected it. Repeated failures can mean a hardware fault.
- duplicate: that job was already credited.
Token revoked or replaced
The worker was removed or moved to another machine. Run ore start again to pair this machine.
Clock out of sync
Jobs carry a timestamp. Enable time sync, for example with timedatectl set-ntp true.
