Risk Disclosure

The risks of mining, rewards and credits.

Last updated November 7, 2026

Read this before you mine, vote or buy credits.

Mining costs such as electricity or GPU rental are your responsibility. Your rewards depend on your share of the season's mining, reward tokens are volatile and can lose their value, and earnings are not guaranteed. ORE has no market value and cannot be transferred.

Rewards

  • Your reward depends on your share of each UTC day's accepted work, which depends on everyone else's mining. Nobody can tell you in advance what you will earn.
  • Reward tokens are chosen each season and can be volatile. Their value can fall to zero.
  • Rewards are paid only from tokens in the reward vault. If the vault is not topped up, claims wait until it is, and a target pool can be lower or zero.

The reward token and pool can change each season. They are announced before that season starts and do not change during it.

Costs

Electricity, GPU rental, hardware wear and gas fees are yours. Gas can cost more than a very small claim.

Technology

  • The smart contracts have not been audited.
  • The mainnet claim vault is controlled by a single operator wallet, not a multisig. The owner can withdraw tokens from the vault, including tokens that would pay unclaimed balances; the vault does not reserve them. If that key is lost or compromised, claims could be paused or the vault emptied.
  • Claims are authorized by a server signer key. If it were misused, payouts are limited by the vault's daily payout limit until the owner replaces the signer or pauses the vault.
  • The coordinator, verifier and settlement worker are run by the operator. You rely on them to record and settle your work correctly.
  • An accepted proof does not attest which physical GPU did the work.
  • Software can have bugs. Seasons can be paused or delayed.

Rules about digital assets differ by country and can change. You are responsible for your own taxes and legal compliance.
